The wife of the late Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, has spoken publicly for the first time following the mixed reactions that greeted news of her recent remarriage.
Addressing her congregation during a Thanksgiving service held after her wedding to Samuel Aryeequaye, Apostle Lilian Owusu Kumah explained that her decision to remarry was carefully considered and guided by faith and prayer.
She reminded members of the church that she has always lived by the principle of “forward ever, backward never,” noting that her choice to marry again aligned with that long-held belief. According to her, she fully observed the mandatory one-year widowhood rites after the passing of her husband before deciding to move on.
Apostle Lilian revealed that after completing the widowhood period, she, together with members of her prayer tower and some junior pastors, embarked on a period of intense prayer, asking God to grant her a new husband if it was His will.
She told the congregation that those prayers were eventually answered, adding that her current husband came into her life as a direct result of those prayer sessions. She described their first meeting as an instant connection, likening it to love at first sight.
The clergyperson further disclosed that she values boldness, hard work, and vision in a man, qualities she said her husband possesses in abundance.
Her comments were met with applause from the congregation, many of whom expressed support for her decision, despite the backlash and criticism that have circulated on social media since news of her remarriage emerged.
