Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu, has marked his birthday by contributing a truckload of medical supplies valued at $1.2 million to the Mepe Health Centre. This substantial donation is intended to enhance healthcare services for the 16,000 residents of Mepe and includes incubators, dialysis machines, x-ray machines, hospital beds, and mattresses, among other essential items.

Ablakwa expressed his happiness at celebrating his birthday with his constituents and emphasized that the medical supplies were part of his birthday celebrations. He is committed to ongoing support for the Mepe community and has announced plans to build additional maternity wards, laboratories, female wards, and washrooms to upgrade the health facility.

He encouraged traditional leaders and stakeholders to collaborate in advancing local development. The donation was received by Togbe Kwasi Nego VI, Mankralo of Mepe, and Mr. Kofi Zigah, the District Health Director, who both expressed their appreciation. Togbe Nego promised continued support from local Chiefs and elders, while Mr. Zigah noted that the health directorate would contribute to the facility’s expansion and efforts to achieve polyclinic status soon.

Kojo Febian, Chairman of the Mepe Development Association, also praised Ablakwa’s donation and called on other individuals, philanthropists, and NGOs to follow suit to further improve the health center.

The Postnatal Care unit reported that since its reopening in April, the Mepe Health Centre has delivered twenty-three newborns without any maternal mortality.
