The Ghana Police Service has successfully apprehended three individuals suspected of being involved in a robbery that took place on August 18, 2024, in East Legon, a residential suburb of Accra.
The arrests were made possible through a series of intelligence-led operations, highlighting the Police Service’s commitment to tackling crime in the country.
The first suspect, Isaac Brena Eshun, was arrested on August 21, 2024, in Accra, followed by the arrest of the second suspect, Peter Amuzu, on August 23, 2024. The third suspect, Ibrahim Mohammed, was apprehended on August 24, 2024, in Tamale, a city in the northern part of Ghana. The swift and coordinated efforts of the police led to the capture of all three suspects within a week of the robbery.
During the arrest, the police recovered several items believed to be linked to the crime. Among the recovered items were two iPhones and a Mercedes-Benz C180, which are thought to have been stolen during the robbery. Additionally, three other vehicles were seized, which the police suspect were obtained through illegal activities. These findings suggest that the suspects might be part of a larger criminal syndicate involved in the robbery and trafficking of stolen vehicles across Ghana.
The arrested individuals are currently in police custody, where they are assisting with ongoing investigations. The Ghana Police Service continues to work diligently to dismantle criminal networks and bring justice to those affected by such crimes.
As investigations proceed, the police are likely to uncover more information about the extent of the criminal activities carried out by this syndicate. The swift action taken in this case reflects the effectiveness of intelligence-led operations in combating crime and ensuring public safety.
