Ghanaian stand-up comedian Lekzy DeComic has announced Jacinta Ocansey as his ‘running mate’ for his much-anticipated comedy special, ‘The New False.’ Jacinta will play a key supporting role in the event, which is set to take place on September 28, 2024, at the UPSA Auditorium in Accra.
The title of the show, ‘The New False,’ is a clever parody of the emerging political movement, “The New Force”, led by business mogul Nana Kwame Bediako. In the lead-up to the event, Lekzy stirred intrigue by posting masked images around town, mimicking the unveiling strategy used by Nana Kwame Bediako when he announced his political aspirations. This tactic sparked widespread speculation, with many assuming it was tied to another political figure.
‘The New False’ promises to be Lekzy’s most significant and side-splitting comedy show yet, marking a milestone in Ghana’s arts and pop culture scene. Lekzy, alongside his production team at 2Cute Entertainment, aims to use humor to diffuse the political tension in the country.
Beyond just delivering laughs, the comedy special is designed to highlight some of the pressing issues facing Ghanaians in a witty yet non-provocative manner. Lekzy has built a strong following with his previous comedy specials like ‘Too Cute to be Mute 1k,’ ‘Too Cute to be Mute (Amplified Edition),’ and ‘CanPAIN MESSage.’
Lekzy has also performed at numerous high-profile events in Ghana, including the Laughline Comedy Show, Easter Comedy Show, Comedy Fiesta, MMC Live, Night of Laughs and Music, Romanus Incomplete, and Journey to the West. His talents have taken him beyond Ghana’s borders, where he has performed at events like the Bloemfontein International Comedy Festival in South Africa, Extreme Comedy Wednesday in Johannesburg, Monday Night Comedy @ Six Cockta, and shows in the United States such as Coming from Africa – Columbus USA and Go Bananas Comedy Club’s GH Memorial Holiday Party.
In recognition of his work, Lekzy won the Best Comedy Special award at the 2024 Ghana Comedy Awards for his show ‘CanPAIN MESSage.’
