Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, is advocating for peaceful elections in Ghana, free from violence and bloodshed.
She emphasized that the shooting incidents that claimed eight lives in the 2020 elections, with five confirmed gunshot-related deaths, must never happen again.
Speaking in Nkurakan, Eastern Region, during her campaign tour, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stressed that Ghana deserves smooth and peaceful elections, living up to its reputation as a refuge for nations experiencing political instability.
She urged the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government not to deploy people to shoot indiscriminately during voting and called on the Electoral Commission to ensure a free, fair, and transparent process.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also highlighted the NDC’s policy proposals, including the National Women’s Bank, aimed at providing financial access to women, and the construction of modern markets across the country for women to trade comfortably.
She rallied support for John Dramani Mahama and NDC member of parliament Albert Nyarkotey.
Her message reiterates the importance of peaceful elections, echoing her previous call for credible elections during the Kundum festival in Axim, where she emphasized the need for leaders to preach peace and development.
