Fatal Accident at East Legon Sparks Police Investigation

A tragic road accident in East Legon, Accra, over the weekend has resulted in the deaths of two individuals, prompting an official investigation by the Ghana Police Service.

According to preliminary findings, the accident occurred on Dzanie Ashie Street, where the suspect driver, Salifu Amoako, reportedly collided with another vehicle. The impact caused both vehicles to ignite, resulting in extensive fire damage.

A statement issued by the Ghana Police Service on Monday, October 14, 2024, confirmed that Salifu Amoako, along with other survivors, is receiving medical treatment. One of the surviving victims has since been treated and discharged from the hospital.

The deceased victims’ remains have been transferred to the morgue for preservation and autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation.

The Police Service is committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding the incident and has assured the public of timely updates as new information emerges.

Authorities have appealed to individuals with relevant information to come forward to assist with the investigation. The Police reaffirmed their dedication to ensuring that justice is served and those found responsible are held accountable.
