Mahama Vows Unwavering Commitment to Accountability

John Dramani Mahama, Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former President of Ghana, has pledged to establish a strong framework of accountability and integrity for government officials if elected in the upcoming elections.

He emphasized that the NDC’s dedication to maintaining accountability would remain steadfast. “Our commitment to accountability will be unwavering. We will establish a robust code of conduct and standards for all government officials to ensure their integrity and accountability,” Mahama stated.

Mahama also outlined his plans for national economic reform, promising to hold a National Economic Dialogue to assess the true state of Ghana’s economy. This platform, he said, would help develop a homegrown fiscal consolidation program to guide the national budget.

Speaking during the start of his three-day tour of the Upper West Region on Monday, October 14, Mahama reiterated his earlier promise to name his ministers within 14 days of assuming office, should he win the election.

He further revealed plans to form the most efficient government in Ghana’s Fourth Republic, stating, “In line with the vision—‘Building the Ghana We Want Together’—I will not only nominate my complete list of cabinet ministers for parliamentary approval within the first 14 days of my office but also constitute the leanest and most efficient government under the Fourth Republic within my first 90 days.”

Mahama used the opportunity to engage the Regional House of Chiefs, addressing various concerns across sectors of the economy, and reinforced his social contract with the people of Ghana for his first 120 days in office.
