Ghana Armed Forces Warns Against Unauthorized Military Uniform Use

The Ghana Armed Forces has issued a warning against wearing military-pattern uniforms and accessories without authorization.

In a statement, Brigadier General Eric Aggrey-Quashie, the GAF Director-General of Public Relations, expressed concern over unauthorized use by protesters, private security, and those involved in illegal mining and political activism.

The trend, according to him, despite ongoing education and warnings, appears to be increasing.

Recent instances included individuals dressed in military-style gear during protests in Accra and Kumasi, and anti-galamsey operations.

Brigadier General Aggrey-Quashie stressed that such actions falsely imply affiliation with the Armed Forces, tarnishing the institution’s reputation.

“Unauthorized use contravenes NLCD 177 of 1967 and poses a public safety threat through impersonation,” he explained.

He mentioned that the Armed Forces will take decisive action, including arrests and urged the public to report suspicious activities involving unauthorized military attire.
