Essikado-Ketan MP Advocates for On-Site Medical Care In Parliament.

The Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan, Professor Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has made a passionate appeal to Parliament to establish emergency medical services within the parliamentary confines.

The member of parliament who doubles as a medical doctor, stressed the importance of being prepared for medical emergencies. “Mr. Speaker, since I came into Parliament about a couple of weeks ago, I’ve gone around the entire premises, and I don’t see any emergency kits or any emergency services provided for us parliamentarians. I don’t see any AEDs in the bathrooms or hallways” The MP expressed her concerns about the lack of basic health kits within the parliamentary confines.

In essence, the parliamentarian made reference to an emergency health attack about a month ago when the special aide to former president Nana Akufo-Addo, Colonel Isaac Amponsah collapsed in parliament. she has described the situation as “not per standard of care”.

Citing the call to urgent action, Dr. Ayensu Danquah suggested the need for an emergency service team in parliament as a means of prioritizing the health and safety of members within the parliamentary premises
