Ghana’s government has reduced Hajj fees from the GH₵75,000 fees paid during the previous government to GH₵62,000, fulfilling a campaign promise by President John Dramani Mahama.

Leader of the five-member task force, Collins Dauda, who were sent to Saudi Arabia to conclude negotiations on the Hajj fee explained that the move is to enable Ghanaian muslims participate in the pilgrimage at a reduced cost.

Whilst giving an update on the assignment, Mr. Dauda said, “Through diligent negotiations and collaborations, the task force has successfully secured a significant reduction in the Hajj fare for 2025. Upon the advice of the president, the fare for 2025 Hajj has been set at GHc 62,000, which is equivalent to $4130.”

However this year’s pilgrimage is expected to take place between June 4 to June 9, 2025 depending on the lunar calendar.
