Raid On Ofori – Atta’s Residence Regrettable – Majority To Parliament.

The Majority in parliament has served its apology to the former finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta concerning the millitary raid at his residence in cantoments whilst he was overseas for medical purposes.

Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga in an address on the floor of parliament named an official at the National Security Coordinator’s office Richard Jakpa as the leading man during the raid.

The majority leader further indicated that the raid was not intended to happen considering the president’s commitment to respecting human rights. “H.E. President John Dramani Mahama remains committed to ensuring that the rights and liberties of every individual are respected. We have received assurances from the office of the National Security Coordinator that the incident was not intended to happen” he clarified.

He further assured the house that the convener of the raid, Richard Jakpa has promised that such an incident would not re-occur.

Mr. Ayariga concluded by apologizing to the Mr. Ken Ofori Atta. ” I personally extend my apologies to former minister of finance and I believe this should suffice ” he said.

Significantly, the Office of the special Prosecutor had declared Mr. Ken Ofori Atta, former finance minister a fugitive over some corruption allegations leading to the raid.

Meanwhile, special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng alleged that the raid was either staged or as a means to impede ongoing investigations.
