Akwatia Mp Sneaks Out Of Parliament After High Court Issues Bench Warrant.

Self acclaimed Member of Parliament for the Akwatia Constituency in the Eastern Region, Ernest Yaw Kumi has been spotted sneaking out of Parliament yesterday January 19 after the koforidua High Court issued his arrest for contempt of court.

His conviction was due to Mr. Kumi’s failure to adhere to the High courts directive on January 7, 2025 ordering him to stray from performing parliamentary activities until the pending legal issues regarding his election was resolved.

Despite this order, Mr. Kumi presented himself to be sworn in as Member of Parliament for the Constituency. Furthermore, the mp failed to present himself at the court during the hearing of his contempt case.

The Koforidua High Court, presided over by Justice Senyo Amedahe has therefore issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Mr. Kumi over contempt of court.

In related events, the minority caucus in Parliament have registered their disapproval on the arrest warrant issued to their colleague.

Addressing the media, minority leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo Markins have described the situation as unfair and assures the public that legal measures are been put in place to support their colleague

A joy news reporter spotted the MP fleeing parliament during proceedings.
