Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba, Minister of State-designate for Public Sector Reforms, has opened up about her personal experience of being a victim of employment revocation when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) took office in 2017.
However, Akanvariba assured the Parliament’s Appointments Committee during her vetting on February 24 that she would not retaliate or engage in dismissals. Instead, she emphasized her commitment to implementing measures that would enhance efficiency in the public sector.
Akanvariba outlined her vision for the sector, focusing on productivity, efficiency, and fair rewards for public sector workers.
She stressed the importance of creating a conducive working environment, providing training and capacity building, and leveraging technology to improve service delivery.
“My vision for the public sector is to create an efficient and responsive system that delivers on the government’s agenda and meets the needs of the people,” Akanvariba stated.
She also pledged to empower women in business and ensure that public sector reforms contribute to national development.
Ms Akanvariba’s commitment to reforming the public sector and promoting efficiency and productivity is expected to have a positive impact on Ghana’s development.
