The Member of Parliament for the Chiana Paga Constituency, Hon. Nikyema Billa Alamzy, has firmly stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government is in office to serve and account to the people of Ghana not to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking during a live interview on GHOne TV’s morning show, Hon. Alamzy stressed that the current administration’s focus is on delivering development, transparency, and good governance to meet the expectations of Ghanaians.

“We were elected by the people of Ghana and our obligation is to them. We are not here to satisfy the NPP or respond to every criticism they throw. Our mandate is to account to the people who voted us into office,” he said.

The lawmaker’s comments come in response to recent criticisms from the NPP concerning the government’s handling of key sectors such as the economy, infrastructure, and education. However, Hon. Alamzy dismissed these concerns as politically motivated, emphasizing that the NDC remains committed to its social contract with the electorate.

He further highlighted ongoing government efforts in addressing youth unemployment, improving healthcare infrastructure, and stabilizing the economy.

“Let the NPP do their politics; we will do the work,” he added.

Hon. Alamzy’s remarks have since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some praising his assertiveness and others calling for greater collaboration between the ruling party and the opposition for national progress.

As Ghana heads toward the midterm of the NDC administration, the debate over political accountability and performance is expected to intensify.
