Ghanaian musician Sam Safo, popularly known as Showboy, has expressed disappointment over his omission from the performance line-up for this year’s Pent Hall Week celebration at the University of Ghana, Legon.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, the outspoken artist famed for his hit single Ye Blow questioned the decision by student organizers to feature Nigerian singer Mayorkun as the headline act while overlooking local talent like himself.

Clearly frustrated, Showboy accused the event coordinators of disregarding homegrown artists in favor of foreign acts. He argued that such choices undermine efforts to support and grow Ghana’s music industry.

“There’s nothing Mayorkun can bring that I can’t deliver better,” Showboy stated in the video. “You choose someone from outside over your own? That’s not how to support Ghana music.”

His comments have stirred conversation online, dividing opinions among fans and observers. While some users backed Showboy’s call to prioritize local talent, others defended the inclusion of international performers, arguing that their presence enhances the event’s appeal and exposure.

As the discussion continues, Showboy’s remarks have reignited a broader debate about how institutions and event organizers can better support and showcase Ghanaian artists on major platforms.
