Speaker of Parliament, Rt.Hon. Kingsford Alban Bagbin has announced on the floor of parliament that Members of Parliament and Parliamentary staff are set to benefit from schorlaship awards to purse their masters, doctorates and other significant academic titles.
Addressing the parliament, the speaker mentioned that the scholarship awards scheme is a proposal from NiBS University geared towards inspirational and transformational leadership and commitment to Ghana’s democratic and institutional development.
Additionally, he added that the scheme is seeking to enhance “visionary leadership which is pivotal in promoting academic advancement and capacity building among Parliamentarians and Staff.”
Enticingly, the speaker added that the scholarship scheme is coupled with attractive monetary values as follows; “a PhD in Business Administration worth $7,599, Doctor of Business Leadership worth $6,999, Doctor of Public Sector Innovation and Leadership worth $5,599 and various Master programs worth $1,399.”
He further emphasized that this avenue will help bridge the gap between academia and governance providing an avenue for strengthening policy research and legislative analysis within the parliament.
Conclusively, the Speaker have encouraged parliamentarians to leverage on the opportunity offered by the NiBs University in order to gain knowledge on several leadership approaches for the good of the country.
Members of Parliament have applauded the speaker for this initiative and are hoping to take advantage of the opportunity served them.
