Weija Treatment Plant Shuts Down – Consumers Face Disruption in Water Supply.

The Ghana Water Company Limited has announced the disruption in water supply to some key areas within Accra.

This is due to an emergency repair work undertaken on the Weija treatment plant which has resulted in its temporary shutdown. The repair work which begun at 10AM today Wednesday, July 2 will span till 5PM this evening.

Some areas affected by the repair works on the treatment plant are as follows; “Korle-Bu, Dansoman, Mamprobi, parts of Weija, Gbawe, Malam, Anyaa, Kwashieman, Ablekuma, Darkuman, Kaneshie, Tesano, Odorkor, Sowutuom, Lapaz, parts of Achimota, North Industrial Area and other neighboring towns and communities.

Ghana Water Company Limited has apologized for the inconveniences caused by the disruptions and have promised that engineers are working assiduously to ensure that water supply is restored to these affected communities and townships.

In the interim, consumers particularly businesses affected by this development are to seek for an alternative water supply till the system is restored after 5PM today.
