Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Minister, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has inaugurated a 10 – member board of governance for the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) on July 9, 2025.
Addressing the gathering at the inauguration ceremony held at the ministry’s conference room in Accra last Wednesday, the trades minister charged the newly constituted 10 – Member board to work towards the mandate to which they have been appointed and or inaugurated for.
She further expressed optimism in the board’s ability to deliver according to the mandate that was imposed on them by the President, John Dramani Mahama. “We are looking at your law again to make it more robust and effective, to help you achieve your mandate as reposed in you by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana” she affirmed.
The newly inaugurated board will be chaired by former Minister for Local Government and Rural Development and Member of parliament for the Amenfi East, Akwasi Oppong-Fosu.
Below is the list of the nine other inaugurated board members.
- Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry – Sampson Ahi
- Deputy Minister of Finance Thomas – Nyarko Ampem
- President of Greater Accra Markets Association – Mercy Afrowa Needjan
- CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre – Simon Madjie
- CEO of the Ghana Association of Banks – John Awuah
- Dr. Reuben Owusu Gyamfi
- Dr. Zakari Mumuni
- Dr. Audrey Smock Amoah and
- Major Christine Naa Adoley Oko (Rtd)
Notably, the board Chairman, Akwasi Oppong-Fosu taking his turn promised to lead the board in achieving its mandate. He said; “We do not take these responsibilities lightly. We pledge that we are committed to supporting your efforts in achieving the vision of His Excellency the president in transforming this country.”
The general aim of the Ghana Investment Promotion Center is to strengthen Ghana’s foreign mission so as to promote and attract investment. The institution of the newly inaugurated board is a step in direction to achieving this feat.
