Haruna Iddrisu Clarifies Remarks on Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Reiterates Her Capability to Become President.

The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has addressed growing public discussions following comments he made about Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang during a recent educational event.

At the same event, the Minister had earlier admonished teachers to maintain high standards of discipline and integrity in their profession, urging them not to take advantage of students but to serve as role models and mentors. He emphasized that discipline and moral uprightness remain essential in shaping the next generation.

However, it was his subsequent remarks about the Vice President that drew widespread attention and debate. Clarifying the issue, Haruna Iddrisu explained that his comments were “open to interpretation” but were made in good faith to affirm his confidence in Professor Opoku-Agyemang’s competence and leadership potential.

He stated that his intention was to acknowledge that “Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has the capacity to assume the highest office of the land, the Presidency.”

Reiterating his stance, Haruna Iddrisu emphasized that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang possesses the experience, intellect, and leadership qualities necessary to lead the nation before all others.

“Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has served this country with distinction in academia, administration, and now governance. Her calm leadership, integrity, and deep understanding of national issues make her capable of becoming President before all others,” he remarked.

He further noted that his comments were not politically motivated but stemmed from a genuine appreciation of her track record and contribution to national development, particularly in the education sector.

Nonetheless, Haruna Iddrisu’s remarks underscore the growing acknowledgment of Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang’s influence and capability within Ghana’s evolving political and leadership landscape.
