A final-year student from the Akenten Appiah Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) has tragically lost his life following a stabbing incident in Bantama, a suburb of the Ashanti Region. The incident stemmed from an accusation of theft.

Eyewitnesses report that the student, believed to be in his late twenties, was accused by an elderly woman of stealing her bag. She subsequently informed her 30-year-old boyfriend, leading to a confrontation between the two men. The student, popularly known in the community as ‘Gye Nyame’, denied the accusation and allegedly threatened the woman’s boyfriend.

Tensions escalated over the course of several days, culminating in a violent altercation on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. During the clash, the student was fatally stabbed in the head.

He was rushed to the Suntreso Government Hospital but succumbed to his injuries before arrival. Community leaders had reportedly attempted to mediate and prevent the conflict, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

The suspect has since been arrested and is in police custody, awaiting court proceedings.
