The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly, Kalamu Adamu Musah, has refuted claims by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) regarding the presence of opposition campaign posters near a polling center, describing the protest as “a sign of fear” and an attempt to preemptively justify electoral defeat.

The NPP had raised concerns over the display of campaign posters belonging to Ewurabena Aubynn, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, close to the Church of Pentecost polling station in Odorkor. Party officials argued that the placement of the materials amounted to an unfair advantage in the lead-up to the highly anticipated rerun in the constituency.

Responding to the accusations, MCE Kalamu Musah dismissed the complaints as baseless and politically motivated.

“These are posters that were not done today. They’ve been up for over a week,” Mr. Musah stated. “It is not only peculiar to the NDC. Maybe one party’s own may outnumber the other. It is normal.”

He questioned the timing of the NPP’s complaint, pointing out that campaign materials from both parties have been visible across the constituency for some time. According to him, the protest is merely one of several diversionary tactics being deployed by the NPP ahead of what he described as an inevitable defeat.

“This is the same party that earlier claimed it would boycott the election. Yet, they are actively participating. Why should anyone trust the NPP?” he asked.

Mr. Musah further declared that the NPP was already reading the writing on the wall.

“They are just giving excuses. The signs are clear – they are losing all the 19 polling stations. I can assure you on that.”

The Ablekuma North constituency is set for a tense rerun election, which has drawn national attention due to its potential implications for parliamentary balance and grassroots support. Electoral Commission officials have yet to comment publicly on the poster-related concerns.

Observers say the latest dispute highlights the intensity of the political atmosphere in the constituency as both parties mobilize support ahead of the ballot.
