ACDT Urges NIA and BoG to Upgrade the Ghana Card Into The Banking System.

The Africa Center for Digital Transformation (ACDT) has urged the National Identification Authority (NIA) and the Bank of Ghana (BoG) to integrate the Ghana card into the banking systems to enable the card perform functions of an atm card.

In a release, the ACDT indicated that the proposed move which was already initiated by the previous government “will enhance financial inclusion, security, and convenience for millions of Ghanaians.”

As part of the possible measures that will enable financial institutions achieve this feat, the ACDT has proposed that all bank accounts be linked to the Ghana card to enable ATM transactions with the Ghana Card.

It further adviced banks to upgrade their POS and ATM systems to accept the Ghana card during transactions and also hinted on biometric and pin verification to tighten security.

In conclusion, the body urged financial institutions to work swiftly in order to integrate the Identification card into the banking system. “We urge the NIA, Bank of Ghana, and all major financial institutions to expedite actions that will ensure the Ghana Card serves as an ATM card, empowering millions of Ghanaians with seamless and secure financial access” it ended.
