Popular Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., has been detained by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) in connection with tax-related offenses involving his luxury yellow Lamborghini Urus.
The development comes just days after Shatta Wale openly warned the EOCO boss not to invite him, only to be summoned and detained on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
Confirming the news in a self-made video, his manager Samuel Atuobi Baah, popularly known as SammyFlex, revealed that the artist voluntarily drove himself to the EOCO office, accompanied by his lawyer Cephas Biyuo, to assist with investigations. He was, however, held for questioning.
According to SammyFlex, Shatta Wale has since been granted bail of GHS 10 million with two sureties. His legal team is actively working with EOCO officials to ensure all legal requirements are met as discussions continue.
Management has called on fans, popularly known as the SM Family, to remain calm and avoid speculation. “We have the utmost confidence in the judicial process,” SammyFlex stressed.
