Customers Who Owe ECG Will Face Disconnection Effective June 16.

The Electricity Company of Ghana in the quest to cut down its debt has announced a nationwide revenue mobilization exercise in the coming week.

The exercise which will be effective Monday, June 16 will target all categories of ECG customers during the planned revenue mobilization exercise. In essence, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDA’s), Residential, Industrial and Commercial entities with outstanding debts to the ECG will have their power disconnected.

The Electricity Company of Ghana in a release stated unequivocally that customers who try to resist their attempts during and after the revenue mobilization process will be made to face the full consequences of the law for defaulting the rules.

“The exercise will be monitored by special teams who will apprehend and prosecute customers who attempt to interfere with the exercise and/or undertake any illegal self reconnection after disconnection.” it cautioned.

ECG has further advised its customers to go settle outstanding arrears before the commencement of the said revenue mobilization program.

It added that customers who refuse to settle their arrears and are disconnected will have to pay an undisclosed sum for reconnection by officials of the company despite settlement of their outstanding arrears.

The Nationwide Revenue Mobilization exercise will span from Monday June 16 through to Friday June 27, 2025.
