The Ghana Navy has just commissioned a state-of-the-art facility at the Naval Training Command (NAVTRC) in Nutekpor, Volta Region. The “Full Mission Bridge Simulator” (FMBS) center, funded by the Danish government, is part of a tripartional agreement between the US, Denmark, and Ghana to boost the Navy’s operational and training capacities .
The facility, named “Lill-May Didriksen Simulation Centre” after a pioneering female naval officer, boasts impressive features, including:
● Simulation Equipment: A 270-degree Full Mission Bridge Simulator and three 120-degree Part-task simulators.
●Supporting Infrastructure: A Briefing Room, Server Room, two Instructor Stations, and offices for instructors.
According to Commodore Solomon Asiedu-Larzbi, the FMBS center will play a vital role in equipping Ghana Navy personnel with practical skills, confidence, and experience to operate at the highest standards. The facility will also reinforce the Navy’s commitment to operational excellence, safety, and readiness, ultimately benefiting the international maritime community.
The Danish government’s support for this project reflects their commitment to strengthening maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea, a critical maritime corridor accounting for a significant portion of global trade.
