Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah Concludes Tenure as Korle Bu CEO, Dr. Frank Owusu Sekyere Appointed Interim Leader

The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital’s Board of Directors has announced the completion of Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah’s tenure as Chief Executive Officer, set to end on October 5, 2024, after a four-year service period.

From October 6, 2024, Dr. Frank Owusu Sekyere, the hospital’s Director of Medical Affairs, will step in as interim CEO until the appointing authority finalizes a permanent leadership decision.

In a statement released on Thursday, October 3, the Board expressed deep appreciation for Dr. Ampomah’s leadership and unwavering commitment, which significantly contributed to the hospital’s continued pursuit of excellence.

Dr. Ampomah, a renowned Consultant Plastic Surgeon, has had a distinguished career, including his role as Director of the National Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre. His expertise in reconstructive surgery has been pivotal to advancements in the sector, and his leadership has helped drive Korle Bu’s expansion and progress.

The Board commended Dr. Ampomah for his dedication to delivering quality healthcare, leaving an enduring legacy that continues to benefit both the hospital and the wider healthcare community.
