Eastern Regional Minister Launches Career Guidance Schemes for Final Year SHS Students.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey on June 2, 2025 launched the Tertiary Institutions Educational fair for final year second cycle students in the Eastern Region.

The fair, which was launched at Krobo Girls Senoir High is in bid to enlighten final year secondary school students from 94 different schools within the region with career guidance paths for making responsible future decisions.

Speaking at the Launch, regional minister reaffirmed the ministry’s aim to realign students with their with their career choices and aspirations. Through out 13 zonal fair centers, Students will be provided with the opportunity to personally engage with representatives from various universities in order to broaden their knowledge scope on future propects that lay ahead. “provides students with a unique opportunity to engage directly with university representatives, learn about available programmes, understand admission requirements, and explore scholarship opportunities.” she emphasized.

Additionally, Madam Awatey touched on certain educational reforms that would enhance the transition from the Senoir High School Level to the Tertiary. she listed

  1. The abolition of the double-track system.
  2. The establishment of Regional TVET Centres of Excellence.
  3. The implementation of a “No Academic Fee” policy for first-year tertiary students.
  4. Free tertiary education for persons with disabilities.

These initiatives, she said will equip students with the necessary skills for the job market.

Conclusively, the fair was generally organized to “nurture a well informed and future ready generation of leaders and professionals in the near future”
