Ghanaian actress and media personality Efia Odo has publicly addressed growing rumours linking her as the biological daughter of the late highlife icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
In a self-recorded video posted to her official Instagram account, Efia Odo dismissed the allegations with clarity and composure, stating, “No. I am not Daddy Lumba’s biological daughter. Daddy Lumba is everybody’s daddy.”
The speculation surged on social media following comments made by Moira Araba Dawson-Williams, the mother of politician Kennedy Agyapong’s child. In a recent video, Moira accused Daddy Lumba of neglecting Efia Odo and harshly criticized him for what she described as emotional abandonment.
Her claims were apparently fueled by an old video in which Efia Odo affectionately referred to the late music legend as her “dad.” However, Efia Odo has now cleared the air, explaining that her remarks were purely figurative and made in admiration of Daddy Lumba’s contributions to Ghanaian music and culture.
“I was gonna totally ignore this, but it’s becoming too much,” she said. “Somebody made a rumour from a video I did while working on Questa TV. I said Daddy Lumba is my dad, but I was joking.”
She revealed that the original clip was taken out of context and edited by what she described as a “clout chaser” who manipulated the footage to spark controversy online.
“That clout chaser took my video and clipped it to fit his agenda. But Daddy Lumba is everyone’s nurturer in a way,” Efia Odo added.
The actress’s clarification comes amid widespread mourning and reflection across Ghana following the death of Daddy Lumba, whose music shaped generations and whose legacy continues to influence the entertainment landscape.
Efia Odo’s statement not only sets the record straight but also underscores the deep emotional connections many Ghanaians feel toward the legendary musician connections that transcend biology.
