The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has confirmed that five leading members of the party have successfully filed their nomination forms to contest in the upcoming presidential primary scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026.
According to a statement signed by William Yamoah, Secretary of the Presidential Elections Committee, the aspirants who completed their filing as of Thursday, August 28, 2025, are:
- Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong
- Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong
- Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong
- H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia
- Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum
The statement recalled that nominations were officially opened on July 29, 2025, following an announcement by the General Secretary on behalf of the National Council. The process was designed to give party members the opportunity to contest for the flagbearership position ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The Presidential Elections Committee assured stakeholders of its commitment to conducting a transparent, credible, and fair process, guided by the party’s constitution and regulations, to ensure the integrity of the election.
With the five aspirants now officially in the race, the stage is set for what is expected to be one of the most competitive presidential primaries in the party’s history.
