In a bid aimed at promoting transparency and accountability, President John Dramani Mahama has ordered the reversal of all allocations and sales of land belonging to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made by the previous government.

The decision, announced by Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, effectively cancels the claims of seven organizations and individuals who had been allocated parcels of land at Airport Residential, adjacent to the Ministry’s property.

Mr Ablakwa welcomed the presidential directive, praising President Mahama’s “unwavering patriotic and decisive support.” He assured that under his leadership, the Ministry’s assets, both domestic and international, would be protected from sale or misuse.

The move is seen as a significant step in safeguarding public assets and preventing the misuse of state resources.

By reversing the questionable land deals, the Mahama administration is seen to be demonstrating its commitment to upholding the principles of patriotism and protecting the interests of the Ghanaian people.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been tasked with ensuring that all lands and properties under its care are properly accounted for and utilized in accordance with the laws of the land. This move is expected to boost confidence in the government’s ability to manage public assets and promote transparency in governance.

As the government continues to take steps to address corruption and promote good governance, Ghanaians are hopeful that this move will mark the beginning of a new era of transparency and accountability in the management of public assets.
