Mohammed Awal, the second runner up of TV3’s maiden Talented Kids show
has called on his idol and father in the music industry, Sarkodie to forgive him if he has done any wrong.
Reflecting on the broken relationship between the upcoming music artist and the Ghanaian rapper – Sarkodie, Awal in a media interaction on Hitz FM voiced out his worry about the current status of their relationship. He shared during the interaction that the bond he shared with his music idol during the initial stages of his career has reduced drastically.
Awal expressed his frustration over repeated inaction on Sarkodie’s part whenever he shares his work [music piece] with him considering the bond they had since he partook in the talented kids show. The emerging artist recounting Sarkodie’s commitment to put him on during a previous interview on Hitz FM have revealed that the artist has still not gotten back to him yet.
“I get worried at times because I feel since he is like a father to me, he should be able to put me on because I’ve seen him put the young guys on [people whom I’ve given features and song reverses]” he stated.
As a result of the constant neglect, Awal mentioned that the current situation has plunged him in a situation where is he almost discouraged about the prospects of his future in the music industry. “I feel bad about it sometimes but I encourage myself to keep it going…its been sixteen years now since we started and at times I’m human so I feel bad about it.”
Despite the broken music relationship between Sarkodie and Awal, the emerging artist underscored the fact that whenever he meets with the rapper physically, they share pleasantries and discuss music.
Apologetically, Awal during the media interaction openly pleaded to Sarkodie. “Kindly, kindly, kindly forgive me if I have done any wrong, I might have said or done something which did not sit well with him, honestly I can’t recall any of such an incident but if I have wronged you in any away please forgive me and take me back as your son”
He likened himself to the prodigal son in the bible further pleading on the entire Ghanaian populace to help make his plea reach Sarkodie for reacceptance.
Awal has shared that he is currently pursing music as a full time career however he does not get the required promotion hence the standstill in his music career. He is calling for assistance from the media and the Ghanaian populace in order to advance in his music career.
Mohammed Awal gained nationwide fame when he contested on TV3’s maiden kids talent show, Talented Kids in 2010. The then 12-year-old rapper was enthusiastic about Sarkodie’s rap and music style and was awarded the second runner up position at the end of the show which he performed with his music idol for the very first time.
Awal has since then worked with the artist through out his Junior high school and secondary school levels until the relationship begun to tear apart some few years after senior high.
