The Gbese District Court in Accra has postponed its ruling in the extradition proceedings involving Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, in connection with an alleged romance scam case.
At the sitting held yesterday, the prosecution informed the court that it currently has no evidence against two of the accused persons named in the case. This revelation followed submissions by the State during proceedings on the ongoing extradition request.
Despite the prosecution’s admission, the court declined to strike out or dismiss the charges against the two individuals. The presiding magistrate held that the matter required further consideration, prompting the court to adjourn the case to a later date for a ruling.
Frederick Kumi, aka Abu Trica, is facing extradition proceedings following allegations linking him to an international romance scam. The case has attracted public attention due to its cross-border implications and the growing concern over cyber-related crimes.
The adjournment means all accused persons remain subject to the court’s jurisdiction until a final determination is made. The court is expected to deliver its ruling on the status of the charges and the extradition request at the next sitting.
Meanwhile, legal observers say the State’s admission of having no evidence against some of the accused could significantly influence the outcome of the case, depending on the court’s final decision.
The case has been adjourned to a date to be announced.
