At the launch of the 2025 Diaspora Summit, the Government of Ghana announced that five distinguished citizens have been awarded diplomatic passports in recognition of their extraordinary contributions to projecting Ghana positively on the global stage.
The announcement was made by Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who stated that the conferment was in line with the authority granted to the Minister for Foreign Affairs under NLCD 155.
The recipients include:
- Wodemaya – internationally celebrated YouTuber and digital storyteller championing African narratives.
- Lady Dentaa Amoateng – founder of GUBA Enterprise, renowned for strengthening ties between Africa and its diaspora.
- Rocky Dawuni – Grammy-nominated musician and humanitarian whose artistry promotes African identity and social justice.
- Anita Erskine – award-winning broadcaster and media entrepreneur known for spotlighting African excellence.
- Ibrahim Mahama – globally acclaimed contemporary artist (clarified as not being related to former President John Mahama), whose installations have gained worldwide acclaim.
Congratulating the honorees, Hon. Ablakwa said the recognition is a celebration of Ghanaians who continue to bring the nation dignity and international respect through their creativity, advocacy, and professional achievements.
“Congratulations; keep bringing Ghana renown,” he wrote.
The 2025 Diaspora Summit, which seeks to deepen collaboration between Ghana and its global diaspora, provided the platform for this announcement. The recognition underscores government’s commitment to celebrating individuals who serve as cultural ambassadors and strengthen Ghana’s global influence.
