In a bid to maintain law and order, the Ghana Police Service has deployed hundreds of security personnel across the country.

This move aims to control post-election violence and protect citizens from further lawless acts.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the police have recorded violent incidents in three regions: Greater Accra, Bono, and Eastern.

However, the police have intervened to restore order in these areas.

ACP Ansah-Akrofi highlighted some specific incidents, including an individual invading a police station in the Bono Region, vandalism at the Ghana Gas Company in Greater Accra, and demonstrations in the Eastern Region.

In each case, the police worked to maintain law and order.

To prevent further violence, the police have intensified security measures, including joint patrols with other security agencies and intelligence-led operations to identify and arrest perpetrators.

Additional security personnel have been deployed to safeguard targeted state facilities.

Dr. Emmanuel Asante, Executive Director of the Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG), urged journalists to report accurately and avoid partisanship during this critical period.

He also advised citizens to exercise patience as the Electoral Commission works to disclose accurate election outcomes.

Major-General Nii Carl Coleman, chairperson of the Civil Forum Initiative, commended the police service for their professionalism in maintaining peace during the elections.

He emphasized the importance of educating the public about the rule of law and the consequences of electoral violence.
