In a startling revelation on Adom FM’s live radio program, a Ghanaian husband has opened up about ongoing domestic abuse at the hands of his wife, shedding light on a rarely discussed form of domestic violence in the country especially male victimhood.

Speaking anonymously, the man recounted how his wife frequently assaults him, particularly when he returns home late or is caught speaking to other women on the phone. According to him, these incidents have become so common that he now dreads any misunderstanding at home.

“What surprises me most,” he told the host, “is that after the slaps, the punches, and all the shouting, she ends it with a k!ss on my cheek. That kiss… as strange as it sounds, calms me down.”

The confession has sparked a wave of public reaction, with some expressing concern about the hidden reality of abused husbands, while others see the issue as a growing sign of gender-based power struggles in modern relationships.

Gender activists have called for society to take male abuse seriously. “Abuse is abuse whether it’s a man or woman,” said Sarah Ofori, a counselor and advocate for domestic violence awareness. “What this man is going through is not a joke. It is a traumatic experience masked by affection.”

Despite the psychological confusion the man experiences being hurt and then soothed immediately experts warn that such actions can form a dangerous cycle of emotional manipulation.

The Domestic Violence Act of Ghana criminalizes all forms of abuse, regardless of gender. However, many male victims remain silent due to societal stigma and mockery.

Listeners are urging the man to seek professional help or report the issue to authorities. Meanwhile, Adom FM has promised to follow up on the story and connect him with counseling services.

This incident has reignited conversations about the need to promote gender-balanced support systems and encourage men to speak up without fear of ridicule or disbelief.
