Dr. Sofo Tanko Rashid Computer, the newly appointed Acting CEO of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), has unveiled his strategy to harness the power of technology to drive Ghana’s socio-economic development.
Speaking in an interview, Dr. Rashid Computer outlined his vision to bridge the digital divide and ensure that all Ghanaians have access to electronic communication services. He emphasized the need to enhance digital literacy through the establishment of Community Information Centers (CICs), which will provide training in basic IT skills.
To address the challenge of inadequate network coverage, particularly in rural areas, Dr. Rashid Tanko announced plans to collaborate with telecom operators to expand network infrastructure and improve connectivity.
This initiative is expected to facilitate access to essential services, including education, healthcare, and financial services.
Dr. Rashid also underscored the importance of transparency and accountability in governance, commending President John Dramani Mahama’s call for asset declaration by appointees.
Dr. Rashid’s appointment is seen as a significant boost to Ghana’s digital inclusion agenda, and his leadership is expected to drive the country’s progress towards achieving its development goals.
