The programme will provide Ghanaian students with free access to a 12-month Gemini AI Pro subscription, 2TB of secure cloud storage, and free AI certification training.
The offer is available until December 9, 2025, and forms part of government’s broader commitment to building a digitally skilled generation.

In a statement to Ghanaian students, Hon. Sam George emphasized the government’s vision to democratize technology and prepare the youth for the future of work. He said:

Statement from Hon. Sam George

“Dear Ghanaian Students,

As part of our efforts to put cutting-edge technology in the hands of our next generation of leaders and problem solvers, I am pleased to announce that, until December 9, 2025, you can sign up to use #GeminiApp for free for 12 months with 2TB storage as a Ghanaian student. You also get free AI Certification training.

This is yet another step to empower our citizens and save money for Ghanaian students and their parents. I am grateful to the team at Google for their continued partnership with the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations. We would continue to expand this partnership beyond the AI Research Lab and One Million Coders Programme.

The Minister noted that this initiative is a crucial step toward bridging the digital divide and positioning Ghanaian students to compete globally. With access to Gemini AI Pro, students will be able to enhance their research, improve productivity, and build digital creativity using one of the world’s leading AI platforms.

The free 2TB storage will also allow students to securely save academic materials, projects, and innovative work with ease. Meanwhile, the AI certification training will equip participants with practical skills in artificial intelligence skills increasingly demanded across all sectors.

The government’s collaboration with Google, Hon. Sam George added, reflects Ghana’s proactive approach to embracing emerging technologies and advancing digital inclusion. It follows earlier initiatives such as the AI Research Lab and the One Million Coders Programme, both of which continue to open new opportunities for young Ghanaians.

As the Ministry prepares for the full rollout, students are encouraged to register early and take full advantage of this opportunity to strengthen their digital future.
