Ghanaian musician Fameye has firmly dismissed claims and assumptions linking him to drug use, stating clearly that he does not do drugs. The award winning artiste made this bold declaration in a video recorded in his car shortly after winning the Highlife Artiste of the Year at the just ended Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

In the video, Fameye, visibly grateful and energized by his victory, addressed public perceptions about musicians and drug use. “People assume that because I’m a musician, I must be using drugs. But I want to say it clearly I don’t do drugs,” he emphasized.
Known for his deep storytelling and soulful delivery, Fameye added that his creative process is rooted in reality, not narcotics. “My inspiration comes from real-life situations, my environment, and the daily struggles of people,” he said.
In addition to clearing the air on drug related rumours, Fameye made a major announcement about the direction of his music. He revealed that all songs he will release this year will be pure highlife music, a move that further affirms his dedication to preserving and evolving Ghana’s indigenous sound.
“This year, it’s all highlife,” he declared with pride, hinting at a refreshing wave of authentic Ghanaian rhythms for his fans to look forward to.
Fameye’s stance against drug use and his renewed commitment to highlife music come at a time when the industry is calling for more responsible role models. His words serve not only as personal clarity but also as a motivational message to the youth.
“You don’t need drugs to make it. Believe in your craft, stay consistent, and surround yourself with people who inspire you positively,” he advised.
As he rides high on his TGMA success, Fameye is setting himself apart not just with his music but with his values.
