Manchester City and Belgian international winger, Jérémy Baffour Doku, has officially received his Ghanaian passport for the first time, symbolizing a powerful reconnection with his ancestral roots.
This major step was facilitated by Ghanaian lawmaker Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who confirmed the development in a public statement. “This was the wish of Jérémy and his family when they called on me last week glad we successfully delivered chip-embedded passports today,” he announced.
As a dual citizen, Doku is legally entitled to a Ghanaian passport under the laws of the Republic. His application and subsequent issuance reflect not only a legal right but a personal commitment to his Ghanaian heritage.
The footballer and his family recently paid a courtesy call to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the process was finalized. The visit and passport issuance are widely seen as a symbolic homecoming for Doku, who, despite playing for Belgium internationally, has never hidden his affection for Ghana.
This gesture by the Ghanaian-Belgian star reinforces his desire to remain deeply connected to Ghana, a country that continues to hold a special place in his heart and identity.
