There was intense drama and emotional scenes in court today, Tuesday, October 28, 2025, as the legal battle surrounding the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, took another dramatic turn.

Although Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh, the legally recognized wife of the late musician, was not physically present in court, she was represented by her legal team, who followed proceedings closely. The day’s sitting brought major revelations, tense exchanges, and a decisive ruling that now clears the way for Daddy Lumba’s final funeral rites.

During the proceedings, Papa Shee, a close associate of the late musician, caused a stir when he presented Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh’s original marriage certificate to members of the media in court, declaring that she remains the only lawful and recognized wife of Daddy Lumba.

Eyewitnesses described the moment as emotional and charged, as Papa Shee reportedly stated, “Papa Shee is more than Daddy Lumba’s Abusuapanin oo,” insisting that the truth about the musician’s marriage and legacy must be respected.

Adding to the courtroom developments, Adomako Nyamekye, another close friend of the late musician, disclosed that Daddy Lumba had personally instructed him before his passing to take care of all matters relating to his affairs.

“Lumba told me to take care of everything when he’s gone,” Adomako Nyamekye said in court, drawing murmurs of surprise and emotion from the gallery.

A moment of surprise came when lawyers representing ‘Odo Broni’ a woman alleged to have been close to the late musician admitted that they could not read the Dutch language on Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh’s marriage certificate. The revelation caused murmurs among attendees, especially since the German Embassy in Accra had already authenticated and verified the document as genuine.

The German Embassy, in an official confirmation dated October 27, 2025, validated that Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh was legally married to the late musician under both German and Ghanaian law, stating that their marriage “was not dissolved by divorce but ended with the decease of the husband on 26 July 2025.”

After lengthy deliberations, the presiding judge made a landmark ruling, lifting the injunction that had previously halted funeral arrangements for the late highlife icon. The court officially cleared the way for Daddy Lumba’s final funeral rites to take place on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

This ruling marks a significant breakthrough for the family, which has faced weeks of legal disputes and media scrutiny since the artist’s passing in July.

Following the ruling, lawyers representing Odo Broni spoke to the media for the first time, acknowledging the court’s decision while emphasizing that they would continue to pursue remaining legal matters “in accordance with the law.”

Meanwhile, the family of the late musician has reaffirmed that formal investigations are still ongoing to determine the actual cause of death of Daddy Lumba. According to a family representative speaking on behalf of Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh, they are fully cooperating with the Ghana Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and other relevant authorities to ensure that the truth is revealed.

“The goal is not conflict, but clarity, justice, and the preservation of the truth and dignity of our beloved husband, brother, and icon Daddy Lumba,” the representative stated.

The family also expressed deep gratitude to fans and sympathizers across Ghana and beyond for their continued prayers, love, and support during this difficult period.

“We thank every fan, friend, and sympathizer for their patience, understanding, and love. The truth has spoken, and justice will follow,” the statement added.

With the injunction now lifted and the funeral date officially set for December 6, 2025, preparations are expected to begin in earnest as Ghana gets ready to bid farewell to one of its greatest musical icons.

Daddy Lumba, who passed away in July 2025, remains a towering figure in Ghana’s music history a man whose timeless songs continue to inspire, unite, and define generations of highlife lovers around the world.
