The Palms Convention Centre at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra came alive as Ghana’s music elite gathered for the second edition of ‘A Nite with Artiste of the Year’, a special event honouring King Promise’s landmark win at the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).

A Star in His Element

King Promise, now officially the TGMA Artiste of the Year, delivered a magnetic headlining performance that reaffirmed his place at the top. From crowd favourites like “Terminator” to the smooth “Paris”, the ‘5 Star General’ had fans on their feet, singing along and soaking up every note of his dynamic set.

The night kicked off with vibrant performances from Scott Evans, Titi Owusu (a nominee for Best Female Vocal Performance), and rising stars Lali x Lola, setting an energetic tone for the celebration.

Honouring Industry Icons

Beyond the music, the evening celebrated excellence across Ghana’s creative landscape with three special awards:

Opoku Sanaa – Instrumentalist of the Year
A master bassist and music director, Sanaa has toured internationally and collaborated with gospel heavyweights. His album ‘It’s Time’ highlights his innovation and artistry.

Susuma Pan-African Dance & Music Ensemble – Traditional Artiste of the Year
With over three decades of cultural impact, Susuma continues to represent and promote Ghanaian heritage through music, drumming, and dance.

Nanabanyin Dadson – Titan Award
A trailblazer in arts journalism, Dadson’s influence as the former Editor of Graphic Showbiz has been instrumental in shaping Ghana’s creative narrative.

Celebrating the Best of the TGMAs

Winners from the 26th TGMAs were also recognized on stage, including Empress Gifty, King Paluta, Team Eternity, Beeztrap KOTM, Epixode, OliveTheBoy, Peewezle, Banini, Ether Goodwyll, and Tulenkey.

The evening was hosted by the ever-energetic Andy Dosty, who doubled as DJ, keeping the atmosphere buzzing between performances and presentations.

Looking Ahead

Robert Klah, Head of Public Events & Communications at Charterhouse, announced the TGMA Music Summit, set for June 21 at the British Council, aimed at fostering dialogue and development within the music industry.

The event, produced by Charterhouse and presented by Telecel with support from TV3, Closeup, Guinness Ghana, and the British Council, offered a perfect mix of performance, recognition, and industry networking.

‘A Nite with Artiste of the Year’ wasn’t just a celebration of King Promise’s success—it was a reflection of Ghana’s thriving music scene and the talents shaping its future.
