KOFIH funds GH¢2.9m health centre in Abutia-Kpotach

The Ghanaian government has officially inaugurated a newly constructed health centre in Abutia-Kpota, Ho West District, Volta Region.

The facility, funded by the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) at a cost of GH¢2.9 million, aims to improve access to quality healthcare services in the region.

The 10-bed Dr Lee Jong-Wook Memorial Health Centre was constructed by Lovemak Ventures Limited, a local company, and is equipped with essential medical equipment and staffed by trained healthcare professionals.

The centre is expected to provide critical healthcare services, including maternal and child healthcare, to the local community.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Minister of Health Kwabena Minta Akandoh emphasized the government’s commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and ensuring that all Ghanaians have access to quality healthcare services.

“The inauguration of this health centre is a significant milestone in our efforts to strengthen the healthcare system in Ghana,” said Minister Akandoh.

“We are committed to providing quality healthcare services to all Ghanaians, regardless of their geographical location or socio-economic status.”

The South Korean Ambassador, Kyongsig Park, reiterated his country’s support for Ghana’s healthcare sector, highlighting the significance of the health centre in strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two nations.

“Korea is committed to supporting Ghana’s development goals, including the improvement of its healthcare system,” said Ambassador Park.

“We believe that this health centre will play a critical role in providing quality healthcare services to the people of Abutia-Kpota and surrounding communities.”

The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, and the Chief of Abutia-Kpota, Togbe Tsali IV, also expressed their gratitude to KOFIH for the support, emphasizing the importance of the health centre in improving healthcare outcomes in the region.

The inauguration of the health centre is a significant milestone in Ghana’s efforts to strengthen its healthcare system and achieve UHC. The facility is expected to serve as a model for future healthcare infrastructure development in the country.
