The Parliamentary Select Committee on Local Government and Rural Development has commended the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, for his swift and dedicated efforts in spearheading development across the region.
The commendation was made by the Chairperson of the Committee, Hon. Maame Pokuah Sawyer, during a review session of the 2024 Audit Report on Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
Hon. Sawyer praised Dr. Amoakohene for his commitment to ensuring that key developmental projects in the Ashanti Region are completed on schedule. The Minister highlighted several major projects, including the construction of 86 CHPS compounds, multiple school blocks, the establishment of a 24-hour economy model market, and the completion of Agenda 111 hospitals across the region.
In his remarks, the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Andrew Amoako Asiamah, urged MMDCEs and Members of Parliament to put aside partisan differences and collaborate for the collective good of their communities. He emphasized that unity and teamwork are essential for fostering sustainable development across the country.
The Committee also extended commendations to several hardworking local government officials, notably Hon. Charles Kofi Agbeh, the MCE of Adansi North and NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Fomena in the 2024 General Elections, for his exemplary performance.
Others who received praise from the Committee include Hon. Zecharia MBA, DCE for Atwima Nwabiagya; Hon. Ahmed Anwel Sadat, MCE for Oforikrom; Hon. Benjamin Marfo, DCE for Amansie South; and the DCE for Bosome-Freho.
The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to supporting dedicated public servants who demonstrate accountability and innovation in local governance, noting that effective leadership at the district level remains vital for the country’s overall development.
