President John Dramani Mahama has announced the imminent release of the first quarter of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), urging Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to manage the funds prudently or face possible dismissal.

The announcement comes in response to criticisms from the Minority in Parliament, who accused the Finance Minister of deliberately withholding funds from essential government bodies, despite the availability of resources and legal mandates nearly six months into the administration.

Addressing supporters during his Thank-You tour in the Bono East Region on Friday, May 30, President Mahama emphasized that 80% of the DACF allocation will be disbursed directly to the regions, placing the responsibility for its use squarely on the shoulders of local government leaders.

“MMDCEs, you have no excuse,” the President stated. “We will issue you with guidelines, approved at the last Cabinet meeting, outlining how the funds should be used. These will serve as your Key Performance Indicators. Your performance will be evaluated annually, and if you fall short, you will be replaced.”

President Mahama is scheduled to continue his regional tour in the Bono Region later today.
