Renowned Ghanaian audio engineer and record producer, Master Garzy, is calling for a more disciplined and professional approach to music production, emphasizing the need for up-and-coming talents to understand the full scope of the role they claim.

In a candid reflection on his journey and expertise, the award-winning producer highlighted a common misconception within the music industry—confusing beat making with full-fledged music production.

“Some people are just beat makers, but because they can record, they assume they can mix too,” Master Garzy pointed out. “It’s time they understand the difference.”

According to him, a true music producer wears many hats, blending creative and technical skills to guide a project from concept to final mix. “Before you call yourself a producer, you have to know how to produce, how to make beats, how to engineer audio, how to mix, how to direct, and maybe even how to write or sing,” he explained.

Garzy, known professionally as Mix Master Garzy, credited his comprehensive skill set as the foundation of his success. “Where I’m coming from, I was fortunate to learn all of these skills together,” he shared, adding that this holistic knowledge has been key to his longevity and influence in the industry.

With a growing number of aspiring producers entering the scene, Master Garzy stressed the importance of education, humility, and discipline. His message is clear: understanding each aspect of production isn’t just optional—it’s essential for anyone who truly wants to be considered a producer.
