The people of Mepe, located in the North Tongu district of the Volta Region, are eagerly preparing for the annual Afenorto Festival, which is set to take place tomorrow.
This cherished festival, held in remembrance of the ancestors’ divine intervention in rescuing the community from a devastating famine, will be marked by lively traditional music, dance, and cultural expressions.
The Mepe Traditional Council has announced that this year’s celebration will include a grand procession, a series of traditional performances, and a sacred ritual to honor both the gods and the ancestors.
“The Afenorto Festival is a key event on our calendar, and we are thrilled to unite as a community to celebrate our rich heritage,” said Togbe Kwasi Nego, the Chief of Mepe.
The festival is anticipated to draw visitors from across the region and beyond, who will join the Mepe community in celebrating themes of gratitude, fertility, and unity.
Preparations are in full swing, with traditional food, drinks, and decorations being prepared in abundance.
The Mepe Traditional Council has called on all residents and visitors to come together in peace and harmony to celebrate the Afenorto Festival.
