Two brothers, Fofo Agboyemeh and Kwame Agboyemeh, were severely assaulted by an angry mob in Ashalaja yesterday, after being accused of exhuming the body of a 10-year-old child from a local cemetery.

According to eyewitnesses, the brothers allegedly exhumed the body of James Ajoyemeh from a cemetery in Adewukwa, a community in Bawjiase. However, they were intercepted by ‘okada’ riders in Ashalaja around 01:00 hours following a tip-off, leading to the mob attack.

The police intervened, rescuing the brothers from the mob and preventing them from being killed. The Awutu Bawjiase Police Command has launched an investigation into the matter to determine the motive behind the exhumation.

The two brothers are currently receiving treatment at the Bawjiase Polyclinic due to the severity of their injuries. Community leaders have called for calm, urging residents to allow due process to take its course as the police continue their inquiries.
