Ghanaian singer Moliy has made history as the first artist from Ghana to perform at the BET Awards.
On June 9, 2025, Moliy took the stage at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, where she gave an exciting performance of her hit song “Shake It to the Max (FLY)”. She was joined by Silent Addy, and together they brought energy and Afrobeats vibes to the world stage.
Videos from the event quickly spread on social media, showing Moliy wearing a beautiful golden green dress. Fans were seen waving Ghanaian and Jamaican flags as they cheered her on.
This big moment comes just a few weeks after Moliy gave another great performance at the 2025 Ghana Music Awards in Accra.
Moliy celebrated the moment on social media by sharing a video with the caption, “When you’re the first Ghanaian to perform at the BETs.” Many fans and musicians praised her for making Ghana proud.
Her performance is a big step for Ghanaian music, showing that artists from Ghana can shine on global platforms.
On the same night, Nigerian singer Ayra Starr won the Best International Act award. This is her first BET win, and she beat other nominees including Black Sherif (Ghana), Uncle Waffles (Eswatini), and Rema (Nigeria). Ayra Starr joins other famous African winners like Burna Boy, Tems, and Tyla.
Moliy’s success at the BET Awards is a proud moment for Ghana. It shows that Ghanaian music is growing and getting noticed around the world. Moliy has made her mark and this is just the beginning.
