NDC Chairman Accuses Interior Minister of Bribery in Security Recruitment Scandal

By: Emmanuel Amoah

Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made serious accusations against Henry Quartey, the Minister of Interior.

Asiedu Nketiah claims that Mr. Quartey attempted to bribe Minority MPs in order to manipulate the recruitment process for Ghana’s security agencies.

He alleged that the Interior Minister approached Minority MPs with offers of incentives in exchange for their cooperation in influencing the recruitment process. The NDC Chairman strongly criticized this alleged act, arguing that it undermines the integrity of the recruitment process and jeopardizes national security.

“The attempt to bribe our MPs clearly shows the government’s desperation to compromise the security recruitment process,” Asiedu Nketiah stated. “We will not stand by and allow such unethical practices to take place.”

The Interior Ministry has not yet responded to these allegations. The opposition NDC has pledged to further investigate the matter and take appropriate steps to ensure transparency and accountability in the recruitment process.

This incident arises amid ongoing concerns about corruption and transparency in Ghana’s security sector, with the government facing criticism for its handling of security recruitment, including accusations of favoritism and irregularities.
