In a viral video across various social media platforms, a supporter of Nana Kwame Bediako aka Cheddar was seen assaulted by a security personnel assigned to the presidential candidate whilst honoring an invitation to Mampong chief’s funeral celebration in the Ashanti Region.
Contents of the video spotted the security person physically assaulting the said supporter who was trying to get to the leader of the New Force due to his genuine admiration for the leader. Upon his attempts, the security personnel threw two blows which landed on the victim’s face causing him to fall.
This action which occured over the weekend sparked numerous conversations across various social media platforms however, New Force in a quick response issued an apology to the victim and his family for the harm caused.
“We extend our sincerest apologies to the victim and their family, and to all Ghanaians who rightly expect better
conduct from those associated with our movement. No individual, supporter or otherwise should ever be
subjected to violence, especially in a democratic environment where engagement and expression are to be protected ” it read.
Additionally, a press conference was held and the security personnel who goes by the name “Andy Acheampong” has expressed his sincerest apology for his actions.
The victim at the press conference also affirmed acceptance of the apology further revealing that Dr. Bediako and his team have catered for all medical expenses to ensure he was in good health after the altercation.
Moreover, the movement has suspended the security personnel in question and has additionally refered him to an anger management class stating that his actions were strictly against the values of the movement.
“Let it be made unequivocally clear that our movement strongly condemns this behavior. It is unacceptable,
unjustifiable, and entirely out of line with the values we hold.” it added.
General Secretary of the movement, Charles Yomekpe assured that such incident will not recur.
